Vox Ecclesia - Vincelles
Vox Ecclesia, the church music festival, returns for a second season and two series of dates.
From 15 to 17 August, Les Mutines, a piano and voice duet, brought to life by the sublime voice of Anaïs Merlin - Soprano and the magic of Judith Vauquier's piano.
Together, they invite you on a lyrical journey through some of Europe's finest works.
Anaïs Merlin studied at the CNSMD in Lyon with Isabelle Germain and Fabrice Boulanger, and at the Pôle Lyrique d'Excellence with Cécile de Boever. They taught her a solid technique, preserving the brilliance, powerful timbre and fleshy roundness of her voice. She has trained with such great artists as Viorica Cortez, Annick Massis, Mireille Delunsch, Irène Kudela, Vincent Le Texier, Hartmut Höll and Marie-Ange Todorovitch.
Anaïs Merlin is a versatile artist who has also trained in theatre and dance, giving her a particular ease on stage. She tackles a wide range of roles with ease, including Mozart opera, operetta, grand opera, contemporary repertoire and early music.
She has distinguished herself in numerous competitions, notably in 2023 with three prizes at the Symphonies d'Automne Competition; she also won the First Prize for Women at the Vivonne Competition, the Audience Prize at the Concours International de Chant Lyrique de Béziers, the Prix Spécial Henri Nafilyan for her interpretation of one of the composer's melodies at the Enesco Competition, and was awarded a Mention Très Bien at the Concours d'Honneur des Maîtres du Chant in 2022.
She has recently appeared at the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) as Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken (La petite bande), and at the Montfaucon Festival as Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute, conducted by Arthur Schoonderwoerd (Cristofori Ensemble).
From 3 to 21 July, she will be on stage at the Festival OFF d'Avignon with the show for young audiences: The True Story of Goldilocks.
In 2025, she will be Cinderella in Les Contes de Perrault, by Fourdrain, with the ensemble Les Frivolités Parisiennes.
At the age of three, Judith found herself sitting in front of an old upright piano, tears of frustration flowing down her cheeks: the instrument was closed! It was the beginning of a long and passionate relationship between her and this instrument, a relationship shared with the violin. Swinging between science and music, she initially opted to study engineering, before devoting herself entirely to her love of the piano.
In 2019, she made a discovery that turned her head: accompaniment. Since then, Judith has worked with instrumentalists and singers on a daily basis, exploring a vast musical repertoire while honing her language skills. Her love of the stage, dance and theatre remains intact, and piano accompaniment offers her the opportunity to take part in many exciting projects.
