Vox Ecclesia - Châteaurenaud
Saturday 13 September 2025
The first duo, Les Incandescentes, is a piano-voice duet led by soprano Anaïs Merlin, who will take us on a journey through the Iberian Peninsula with a variety of lyrical pieces.
During the 2024-2025 season, she triumphed with the ensemble Les Frivolités Parisiennes, directed by Valérie Lesort, in the roles of Cinderella, Little Thumb and Little Red Riding Hood (Les Contes de Perrault, Fourdrain) at the Théâtre de l'Athénée in Paris, the Opéra de Reims, the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne and the Théâtre de Tourcoing. She will be Gabrielle (La Vie Parisienne, Offenbach) with the Atelier Lyrique de Bourgogne, under the stage direction of Philippe Padovani.
Originally from Mâcon in the Saône-et-Loire region, Anaïs Merlin studied at the Lycée de Tournus, toured with a number of street performance companies, and then completed her training at the CNSMD (Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse) in Lyon with Isabelle Germain and Fabrice Boulanger, as well as at the Pôle Lyrique d'Excellence with Cécile de Boever. They taught her a solid technique, preserving the brilliance, powerful timbre and fleshy roundness of her voice. She regularly trains with great artists such as Viorica Cortez, Annick Massis, Mireille Delunsch, Irène Kudela, Vincent Le Texier, Hartmut Höll and Marie-Ange Todorovitch.
She has distinguished herself in numerous competitions, notably in 2023 with three prizes at the Symphonies d'Automne Competition; she also won the First Prize for Women at the Vivonne Competition, the Audience Prize at the Concours International de Chant Lyrique de Béziers, the Prix Spécial Henri Nafilyan for her interpretation of one of the composer's melodies at the Enesco Competition, and was awarded a Mention Très Bien at the Concours d'Honneur des Maîtres du Chant in 2022.
She has recently appeared at the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) as Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken (La petite bande), and at the Montfaucon Festival as Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute, conducted by Arthur Schoonderwoerd (Cristofori Ensemble).
In 2024, she was at the Festival Off d'Avignon, with the children's show La vraie Histoire de Boucle d'Or (The True Story of Goldilocks), acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.
She is accompanied by Cécile Turby, a pianist from Reunion Island. After obtaining her Dem in Reunion Island, at the age of 17 she entered the CNSMD in Lyon to study classical piano. She then continued her training at the Buchmann mehta school of music in Tel Aviv, where she obtained a master's degree in piano with first class honours. Also a violinist, the musician continues to broaden her skills by studying opera singing, jazz and dance in Paris.
