Louis Mezzasoma gallops through the land of scratchy music, from wide-open blues to country-folk and roots-rock. His inspiration is serene, inhabited, visceral, jubilant and devoid of artificiality. Like the battered songwriters he's so fond of, Louis probes the soul of the blues, capturing its spirit and going right back to its source. Without exaggerated nostalgia.
