Exposition Philippe GUERRY - "Instants d'eau"
From Saturday 06 to Sunday 07 September 2025
At the Chapelle Saint Pierre, Philippe Guérry will be exhibiting his paintings, which he calls 'Instants d'eau': water from the Seille or from the little rivers that flow and flow all over Burgundy. For Guérry, these are modest moments of serenity that enchant the world when we know how to perceive the essential within the infinitesimal.
A professional painter living in Chalon, he has already been to the Chapelle with other themes close to his heart: people of the night, processions and so on. He began painting in oils at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Mâcon 40 years ago, and has never looked back. This medium has enabled him to depict a humanity that is both tragic and burlesque, according to his own vision, a vision close to that of the German and Belgian expressionists.
This new exhibition will nevertheless provide moments of serenity in the midst of our troubled world.
