Exposition Michel Henricot
Saturday 05 July 2025
Sunday 06 July 2025
This posthumous exhibition will give an insight into the great talent of the painter Michel Henricot (1936/1922). "Described by critics as a surrealist and a visionary, Henricot never claimed to belong to either of these movements. This did not prevent him from being praised by André Breton, the figurehead of Surrealism. His friend Christian Duriez recalls that he refused to be pigeonholed. "As far as I'm concerned, all painters have visions, so I don't really know what visionary means.
The fact remains that the painter was convinced of the existence of other universes, and through his work we can see a bridge between the real world and these other worlds, rendered with extreme meticulousness and a very classical style. His work is an incursion into the realm of the dead, into the darkness of his own psyche, into the great founding myths of the cultures that have nurtured him".
