Conference - The École de Paris (1900-1939): models and creators: the place of women

How did women influence the École de Paris? Often relegated to the role of models, they were also great artists, critics and patrons of the arts. This talk will highlight their essential place in the history of twentieth-century art.
This theme echoes a project recently carried out with 3rd year students at Notre-Dame college in Louhans. They created "reinvented" portraits of the sisters of the Hôtel-Dieu, emblematic figures of the Bresse region of Louhans, in order to give a voice to these women who are often forgotten, but who played a central role in the life of the town.
Last but not least, this talk ties in with our next temporary exhibition, on show from July, which will plunge visitors into the heart of the major artistic movements of the 20th century: cubism, surrealism and abstraction. It's an immersion in a period of creative ferment, when artists redefined codes, forms and imaginations.
