Talk by Charlotte Curé followed by a shared aperitif. Free admission to the temporary exhibition from 10 am.
Discover the world of cetacean sounds, including sperm whales, killer whales, pilot whales and humpback whales, which fascinate visitors with their incredible diversity. Cetaceans are marine mammals whose use of acoustics predominates over any other sensory modality. By listening to their environment, they locate their prey, communicate with their fellow creatures and detect danger (predators, collisions). This sound journey presents part of the cetacean vocal repertoire: echolocation clicks, buzzes, pulsed sounds and songs etc., illustrated by the scientific research currently being carried out to decipher their "language" and understand the impact of noise.
