Concert de musique baroque

Concert with commentary on baroque music: Marin Marais and fables by Jean De La Fontaine
Tableaux champêtres - Viola pieces and fables at the time of Louis XIV
Jean-Louis Charbonnier and Paul Rousseau, viols, Pierre Trocellier, harpsichord
Although the Festival Les Vieilles Planches will not be held again until the summer of 2026, the annual baroque music concert will take place this August in the church of La Chapelle St Sauveur.
A text by Claude-Gaspard Bachet dit de Méziriac, a Bresse mathematician, poet and translator born on 9 October 1581 and who died on 26 February 1638 in Bourg-en-Bresse, will introduce this musical programme featuring 'country' pieces by Marin Marais, a musician at the court of Louis XIV: Rondeau paysan, Bourrasque, la Sauterelle, as well as country dances: Bourrées, Bransle de village, Menuets and descriptive pieces such as Jeu du volant, le Troilleur, le Tourbillon... and three fables by Jean de La Fontaine: Le villageois et le serpent, Le laboureur et ses enfants, La cigale et la fourmi.
Two violas da gamba and a harpsichord, instruments of the Baroque period with a rich and distinctive sound, will plunge listeners into another world.
Admission to the concert is free, but there will be a charge at the end of the performance.
The Association Caix d'Hervelois was founded in 1979 and has organised over forty courses, early music festivals (Paris, Dieppe, Asfeld, etc.), recordings and viola da gamba rentals throughout France.
