In the heart of Burgundy's Bresse region, this large, completely independent family home is set in a peaceful, leafy setting. The interior of this converted farmhouse has been completely renovated to provide comfort and modernity, while preserving its authenticity and charm of yesteryear and accommodating up to 12 people.
On the ground floor, an east-facing terrace leads to the fully-equipped kitchen, which opens onto the dining area (oven, microwave, American fridge/freezer, food processor, dishwasher, filter and pod coffee makers, toaster, saucepans, crockery, ....). In the TV lounge, a relaxation area with a sofa bed, you'll find board games, regional documentation and, subject to availability, the chance to buy various items of local produce. Next door is a shower room and separate WC.
A beautiful staircase opens onto a mezzanine with a superb bookcase and leads to the 5 bedrooms on the 1st floor, all with fitted wardrobes or cupboards, as well as a second shower room with separate WC.
Bedroom 1: 1 bed, 160x200cm; bedroom 2: 1 bed, 140x190cm; bedroom 3, 1 bed, 140x190cm and 1 baby bassinet; bedroom 4, 2 beds 90x190cm and 1 child's bed; bedroom 5, 1 bed 140x190cm. Extra beds available if required.
You are 10 minutes from the A39 motorway, and 30 minutes from the A6 and A40 motorways.
Varennes-Saint-Sauveur is a charming, lively village where you'll find a beautifully restored former tilery and all the shops you need (small mini-market, bakery, butcher's, dairy/cheese shop, restaurant, pizzeria, ....) as well as a doctor's surgery and pharmacy.
Situated between the Ain, Jura and Mâconnais regions, the area offers a rich and varied historical, cultural and gastronomic heritage (Bresse wines and chicken). Louhans, its arcades and typical Monday morning market with its famous calf's head. Cuiseaux, a small medieval town and painters' village. Saint-Triviers-de-Courtes, with its carronnière and Bresse museum at the Ferme de la Forêt. Cuisery, the village of books. Saint-Amour 39, its apothecary and royal prison. Tournus, its Michelin-starred restaurants and Saint-Philibert Abbey. Cluny, its abbey and national stud farm. Bourg-en-Bresse, its town centre and Brou cathedral. And don't forget the Jura, Bugey and Mâconnais wine routes, which pass through pretty stone villages, where, as you head north towards Beaune and Dijon, you'll discover beautiful Romanesque churches. There are hiking trails everywhere for further discoveries.
