This remarkable ecosystem, protected as a "Natura 2000" site, is appreciated by both anglers and nature lovers (a migratory bird sanctuary, rare plant species, numerous fish including the famous wels catfish, and a wealth of other animals and wildlife). In the heart of the gentle, unspoiled Louhans countryside (largely protected as a ZNIEFF area for its rich fauna and flora), a soothing landscape combining agriculture and the great outdoors (to be explored on foot or by bike), between vast hedged plains of fields and meadows dotted with ponds and rivers and beautiful wild forests, nestled between Bresse and Revermont, not far from the foothills of the nearby Jura mountains.
