Valérie Rouquié exhibits her works - mainly drawings in black chalk, sepia and red chalk, in a minimalist style, on canvas or paper. This year, she is celebrating 15 years of exhibiting.
At the age of 7, Valérie Rouquié began drawing and has never put down her pencils since. In 1985, Valérie sat the Applied Arts entrance exam in Moulins (03); the following year, she enrolled at the Lycée Mathias in Chalon-sur-Saône (71) in the ‘photography’ stream. In 1989, she set off for England. During her stay, she lived for a time in Newmarket, the birthplace and global centre of thoroughbred horse racing. It was there that she discovered the fascinating world of horse racing. She made this one of her favourite subjects, alongside all the other animals she loves. Femininity is equally prominent in her works. Valérie Rouquié draws spontaneously.
