Dédé Gambey passed away last September, but 'his' forge is still there, in the village of Sainte-Croix-en-Bresse, where his forefathers gave rhythm to village life with the sound of the anvil.
After a busy professional life, André Gambey (Dédé, as everyone called him) decided to bring his memories to life by recreating his grandfather's and father's forge. But also his grandmother's café, Lucie, and all the objects that once set the pace of village life.
Dédé left us last September, but this year the doors of the "Gambey forge since 1866" will be open to share this family history, which echoes the agricultural and economic changes that have taken place in our countryside. After all, Dédé was able to develop the trade of his forebears (wheelwrights, blacksmiths and farriers) by moving into metal construction. Corn dryers, cattle sheds and other sheds from the 1960s are also at the heart of this simple but lively evocation.
